Learning to say ‘No’
Primary school children throughout New Zealand are being invited to join a national club aimed at teaching children to say, “no” to wrong, illegal or dangerous activities.
The Just Say No Club was started by the North Canterbury-West Coast Jaycees last month and has now been adopted as a national programme. The club is based on a successful programme in the United States which helps children to deal with the unhealthy aspects of peer pressure.
The scheme’s programme manager, Mr George McGinty, said children between the ages of seven and 14 would be invited to join the club.
