The Wizard conducts members of the Choir of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament at the launch of the choir and orchestra’s 1990/1991 European Tour in Christchurch on Thursday. The choir’s director and conducter, Mr Don Whelan, hopes that about 70 supporters will accompany about 80 performers on the 46 day tour of San Francisco, London, and parts of Eastern and Western Europe. He is excited about the prospect of the choir and orchestra singing Latin Masses and other religious music in many of the European cities and cathedrals from which the music originated. The tour leaves New Zealand on December 5, 1990, and is scheduled to return on January 20, 1991. The noted soprano, Wendy Dixon, will travel and perform with the choir.
