Tenpins to be targets

The Christchurch Pistol Club is holding a pin shoot this week-end. The Tenpin bowling centre, Bowlerama, has given the club its old pins to use as targets in the three days of shooting. Thirty-five shooters from throughout the South Island have been attracted by the novelty idea and will be at the Burnett Pistol range in McLeans Island, from 8 a.m. tomorrow. Each competitor has 15 seconds to shoot five pins off a table. The pins’ placement varies according to the calibre of pistol used and each pin must be knocked off the table, not just knocked over. A power event will also be held, and that requires pins to be knocked off a rising table. Individual, single knockout and three person team knockout events will be held. This shoot will be a good spectator event but all visitors must bring some form of eye protection.
