N.B.R. denies circulation slump

The former part-owner of “National Business Review” denies reports that the newspapers circulaton slumped before an ownership change this week. It was announced on Wednesday that a half share in the newspaper, owned by an Auckland publisher, Mr Barry Colman, had been sold to two Australians, Mr Robert Gottliebsen and Mr Stuart Simson.

The other 50 per cent of N.B.R. is owned by the Australian publishing company John Fairfax and Sons, of which Messrs Gottliebsen and Mr Simson are executives.

Mr Colman said yesterday that the report that N.B.R. had suffered a drastic circulation loss was without foundation.

Mr Colman has retained a position on the N.B.R board.

Circulation of the newspaper's Friday edition had been maintained at over 14,000, a figure which had been confirmed this week, he said.

The Monday to Thursday edition had circulations of 10,500, which had been constant for several months.
