Medical expo plans for Chch
By
DEBORAH McPHERSON
Medical researchers in Canterbury will have the opportunity to publicise their research at a special expo in Christchurch next month.
The expo is being organised by the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation as part of a drive to boost its membership and increase awareness of research. The foundation hopes to increase its membership ■ in five years from its present 885 to 5000. The expo, to be held at the James Hay Theatre, will include demonstrations and displays and a video made by the foundation showing the work of about 30 researchers in Canterbury. The Dean of the Christchurch School of Medicine, Professor Alan Clarke, told a meeting of
the foundation’s council yesterday, that the public had a right to know what sort of research was being done. Research was not a “worthy charity” but helped solve health care
problems, attract and keep good staff, and justify sound learning.
