Time for change in clock
The Government Life building in Cathedral Square will change its name and get a new clock next week. It was announced recently that 120-year-old Government Life would change its name to the Tower Corporation, to reflect its move into the private sector. The change would also reflect the insurance company’s investment into new areas, a spokesman said yesterday. The Christchurch building’s electro-
magnetic time-and-temperature display will be replaced by a computerised one. The Christchurch company which designed the new display, Sound Logic Research, Ltd, said it should save on energy and maintenance costs. It is based on an original design for Claude Neon Advertising, and would replace the mechanical relay system. It should be working early next week.
