‘Sign-on’ for parlours
A simple “sign-on” scheme has left Wellington’s massage parlours free of Thai prostitutes with illegal visitors’ permits, according to the police. “We have a policy that anyone working in the city’s parlours must have their name recorded in a book,” said Detective Paul Dimery, of the Wellington vice squad. Twenty-four Thai prostitutes, in their 20s, were last week ordered out of Auckland parlours. “If there are any foreign girls, we check out all their immigration details,” Mr Dimery said. “But we’ve had no problems at all.” -PA.
