Morning TV to screen soon

PA Wellington New Zealanders will be able to watch television while eating breakfast from November 6. Television New Zealand would start transmission on TV2 at 6.30 a.m. as a first step towards developing a two-hour breakfast TV show expected to start in March next year. That show is likely to feature extensive news and magazine items similar to breakfast television in Australia and Britain. Initially the earlymorning broadcasts will include children’s programmes and aerobics with hourly news bulletins featuring overnight satellite feeds from overseas. The early start was aimed at getting viewers used to the idea of watching TV in the morning before the full breakfast show started next March. Night transmission would also be extended from about midnight to 1.30 a.m. or 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
