Students to meet on fees

University student presidents wilt meet in Wellington tomorrow to discuss strategies to combat the $1250 tuition fee due to be introduced next year.

The University of Canterbury student president, and national presidentelect, Ms Suze Wilson, said the meeting would explore what kind of legal action might be taken. There could be grounds for a judicial review. The meeting would look at action to disrupt the fees policy if it was still in place next year. We’ll look at the possibility of non-compliance — which means not paying the fee, or at least the full amount.”

Rallies to protest against the new fees are planned for most university campuses later this week.

The University of Canterbury will hold a rally on the university library steps at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
