Former lawyer’s bonanza
PA Wellington A former Auckland criminal lawyer, Mr Eb Leary, is celebrating an $80.0,000 Lotto win, the “Sunday Star” reported yesterday. Mr Leary and his partner, Ms Geraldine Ebdale, who bought the winning lucky dip ticket, flew to Wellington last week to collect their cheque for $802,499.40, the newspaper reported. Ms Ebdale bought the ticket on September 1 at a . Ponsonby Road dairy, close to Mr Leary’s fish-selling business in Grey Lynn, for the next day’s draw. Mr Leary held a party for friends and relatives at his Ponsonby home last Sunday. The Court of. Appeal struck Mr Leary off the roll of barristers and solicitors in 1987, on the application of the Auckland District Law Society.
