Infinite Secret set for Timaru
By
DAVID McCARTHY
Infinite Secret, the talented former northern galloper now with Roydon Bergerson, is likely to tackle the Timaru Herald Stakes on October 6 at his first southern assignment. Infinite Secret has been leased by a patron of the Bergerson stable and wintered over at Herb Bergerson’s stable at Foxton. He had some pre-train-ing in the north and is at the galloping stage. Infinite Secret, a distinguished weight-for-age performer when trained by Frank Ritchie, is aimed at feature events at the New Zealand Cup meeting, such as the Churchill Stakes. • Morgan Page, sidelined with a tendon injury last autumn, is to join the Awapuni stable of Peter Hurdle for a new campaign. Morgan Page was formerly with Jan Hay and the change has been made because of greater racing opportunities in stakes -races on spring tracks in the Central Districts. Morgan Page sprained a tendon during a trip to Blenheim in April. She has had several • months rest and some pre-train-ing, according to partowner Eddie Thompson, who paid tribute to Mrs Hay for the results she achieved with the mare. • Aramist, a disappointment with the Grigg Classic at Ashburton on Tuesday, has been put aside until the autumn. Trainer Peter Jones feels there is little point in continuing with a spring campaign if Armamist cannot measure up to top age-group company. Jones has also turned out Ladysmith and Astral Gate, which have failed to fire on good footing. A recent addition to the team is Star of Venus, an Otehi Bay mare formerly with. Laurie Laxon. Jade Gate is likely to race at Riccarton at the end of the month.
