Bid for free dialing
The Banks Peninsula Transitional Committee will write to Telecom in an effort to get Akaroa County included within the Christchurch exchange free dialling area. The county chairman, Mr Tad Harris, told the committee it was important that residents be able to ring their new local authority head office without being charged for the call.
