A winner

By

DANNY JOEL

On Wednesday, July 26, 1989, my sister, Rose, who is in Toom 12, won herself and Somerfield School a 21-volume set of Children’s Britannica Encyclopaedias. Rose said, “I got an entry form from school, and there were names of cities in New Zealand, spelt the right way and the wrong way, and I had to tick the ones that were right.

“About a month later somebody rang up from Auckland. When I heard that I had won, I was so surprised that I laughed and laughed and I couldn’t believe it!”
