Overtones to case —police
A psychiatric report will be obtained on a man, aged 22, because the police believe there were sexual overtones to two burglaries he. allegedly committed at the same address.
Jeffrey Frederick Williams, an assistant printer, who appeared before Judge Mahon in the District Court yesterday, was remanded without plea on bail to September 18.
The Judge ordered that as a condition of bail Williams report for a psychiatric examination and that he live with his mother.
Detective-Sergeant Rick McCaskill sought the psychiatric examination because, he said, it seemed from the defendant’s conduct at the address, occupied by a young woman, that there were sexual overtones to the alleged offending. The police allege burglaries took place on August 27 and on September 2.
Robbery charge
Police beliefs that a man charged with attempted robbery would have killed someone if he had been armed led to the ordering of a psychiatric examination. William Arthur Henderson, aged 21, a soldier, was remanded in custody until today for a police
doctor’s assessment. Henderson is charged with attempting to rob Parsat-Bhana of cash on September 2. Morphine offence
A man convicted of using “homebake” morphine has, because of his .long-standing drug problem, been remanded to September 18 for sentence.
Ralph Hazelton, aged 35, unemployed (Mr Mervyn Glue), was found at an address on which a search warrant had been executed. He admitted having used morphine two hours earlier.
Mr Glue had sought a deferred sentence. He said his client was now on a methadone treatment programme. Trial sought
Trial by jury was elected by an unemployed woman facing nine charges of theft involving $BBOO.
The woman, aged 21, represented by Mr Rupert Glover, was remanded on bail to September 26 for a pre-depositions conference.
Interim suppression of her name was continued. The alleged offences, which involve alleged thefts from a charitable organisation, took place between July, 1988, and March this year.
