Money music to C.S.O. manager

The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra will venture into the commercial field to raise $50,000 by the end of the year.

It will provide live music for the launch of a new product at the Christchurch Town Hall in early December.

The general manager of the orchestra, Mr Garth Jeune, said the orchestra’s involvement in the product launch were confirmed last week. He had been approached about the promotion by an Aucklandbased national company last month after the orchestra had announced its lack of funds and in-

tention to raise $50,000. The new venture would contribute significantly to the fundraising. It also introduced the orchestra to a different form of fundraising which it intended to use in the future. Mr Jeune said the orchestra would be marketing itself mainly by approaching advertising and promotion agencies to make them aware of the opportunities it could present. The orchestra had worked with the Town Hall for the product launch, which might also involve a Christchurch ballet school.
