Motorway landing

PA • Napier A Napier flying instructor landed an aero club aircraft on the Napier-Hastings motorway yesterday after developing engine trouble on a training flight. The Napier Aero Club said the instructor, Mr Justin Vincent, maintained height until the one car travelling towards the aircraft safely passed. Then he touched down.

The emergency landing took place at 12.20 p.m. after the Cessna 152 lost power during a training flight and the engine started to run roughly. A replacement carburettor was installed in the aircraft stranded by the side of the road, and Mr Tayler took the controls for a successful motorway take-off two hours later. -
