Guidance sought NZPA-PA London Hugh Manning, who plays The Rev. Donald Hinton in the British television series, “Emmerdale Farm,” says viewers have been writing to him asking for divine guidance. Many fans of the popular soap series believe he is a real vicar. The actor spoke of his curious fan mail as he prepared to bow out of the show after 11 years. Manning is to concentrate on a stage career. Star switches soaps NZPA-AP Los Angeles Terry Lester, who has starred on "The Young and the Restless” for the last nine years, has left the soap opera to join the
rival “Santa Barbara.” Lester, who played Jack Abbott on ‘“The Young and the Restless,” will take over the part of lawyer Mason Capwell, the eldest son in the powerful Capwell family on Santa Barbara, N.B.C. said. Lester replaces Lane Davies, who left Santa Barbara six weeks ago. Rivers’ new show NZPA-AP Los Angeles Comedienne Joan Rivers, who unsuccessfully challenged Johnny Carson with a late-night television show, is now taking on Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue with an afternoon programme. “It’s going to be a little bit of everything, more than one topic an hour, some humour, some serious stuff, guest celebrities to interview — a little bit of everything, really,” she said.
