Comedian sets off alarm

NZPA London The New Zealand-born comedian, Pamela Stephenson, sparked a security scare at Edinburgh airport on Monday — thanks to her new £5OO ($1328) designer jacket. Stephenson triggered alarms as she walked through a metal detector in the jacket adorned with knives, forks and spoons. “All hell broke loose. I thought World War 111 was breaking out,” said Stephenson, who had to remove the jacket before being given clearance. Stephenson had been attending the Edinburgh International Television Festival where she announced that she will star in a new television series about women’s struggles to combine families with careers. She said she was shocked when the 8.8. C. asked her to do the

series, explaining that she found it an uphill task combining bringing up her own family with pursuing her career. Stephenson lives with the Scottish comic, Billy Connolly, and the couple have three daughters. “Maybe I’ll pick up a few hints about my own life making this series,” she said.
