Situations Vacant Situations Vacant ~ REGIONAL TRANSPORT The Council is seeking two Senior Advisory Officers to fill new positions. Both will be located in the Wakefield Street Office and be responsible to the Manager. Transport Planning. Senior Advisory Officer (Regional Land T ransport Programme and Regional Roads) The prime responsibility of this position will be to prepare and submit the annual Regional Land Transport Programme and to implement any proposed improvement to the region's roads. The successful applicant will have a degree in civil engineering or equivalent, with membership of a professionally related organisation. A background which has led to a wide knowledge and understanding of reading and transport planning is envisaged and a high degree of personal tact and diplomacy is essential. Senior Advisory Officer (Modelling and Forward Planning) To ensure that the Council and the Land Transport Committee are able to carry out their transportation planning functions the successful candidate will develop and use any transportation models and planning tools which may be needed. A tertiary qualification in either Mathematics/Economics/Civil Engineering/ Computer Science or another similar field with a post-graduate qualification in a subject such as transport planning is required. Membership of a related professional organisation with at least five years postgraduate experience will be an advantage and proven strong analytical skills are essential. One Senior Instructor and three Instructors are required at the Christchurch Technical Unit to be part of a small high calibre team of instructors who provide specialised training courses for the Airways Corporation involving radar communications, navigational aids and airfield lighting. This will involve frequent travel. The successful applicant will hold NZCE or equivalent, have wide experience in tuition and practical instruction relating to Airways Technical Systems and have excellent interpersonal skills.
