INSURANCE COUNCIL APPOINTMENT Dr Mike Ashby, PhD, of Wellington, has been appointed Public Affairs Executive for The Insurance Council of New Zealand Inc. Dr Ashby takes up the new position on September 4 and will manage the Council’s government and media relations, acting as its advocate and spokesperson on insurance industry related matters. As Public Affairs Executive for the Council he will be able to draw on his experience as a consultant in the government area and his knowledge of public sector administration. Dr Ashby joins the Insurance Council from Strategos Consulting Limited where he worked on a number of major reviews for the Government, including a resource management review on New Zealand defence. Recently, Dr Ashby was awarded a PhD in International Politics from Victoria University where he has lectured on international relations.
