Venture capital forum

A Wellington-based group representing both the public and private sector has been established to examine issues confronting the venture capital industry in New Zealand.

Group representatives are Trevor Lloyd from the Ministry of Commerce, Geoff Cassels from the Trade Development Board, Geoff Todd representing both the DSIR and the Innovative Technologies Scheme, Grant Twaddle from the AMP Society, and Geoff Norman of Venture Funding, Ltd. Since the sharemarket crash the ranks of venture capital companies have been decimated. There has been no effective industry voice since the demise of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association in early 1988, and the group has been evaluating initiatives to restore confidence in the sector.
