Rugby squad unchanged
An unchanged Canterbury rugby squad- will head north this week for the second and final time in its national first division rugby championship programme, Canterbury will play Bay of Plenty in Rotorua, on Saturday and Taranaki in New Plymouth on August 29. After its second North Island leg, Canterbury will have home matches against Auckland, North Auckland, Wellington and Hawke’s Bay before completing its schedule with an away fixture against
Otago. The Canterbury squad to tour north is:
Backs: Robbie Deans, Paula Bale, Wiremu Maunsell, Andrew McCormick, .’Kieran Flynn, Warwick Taylor, Stephen Bachop, Greg Coffey, Bruce Deans, Graeme Bachop. Forwards: Robin Penney, Murray Henderson, Andy Earl, Chris England, John Jackson, Albert Anderson, Phil Cropper, Tavita Sio, Chris Earl, Kevin Hill, John Buchan.
• The president of the Canterbury Rugby Union, Murray Inglis, reported yesterday that ticket sales for the Canterbury and Auckland match at Lan-
caster Park on September 2 would start tomorrow instead of August 28.
“There has been an unprecedented demand for tickets/We will be ticketing Jthe No. 2 and No.: 3 stands initially and we advise embankment patrons to buy tickets. It will be a real Canterbury and Auckland bonanza with the respective B teams and colts teams to play on the park the same day.” Tickets will be available at the Canterbury Centre and union’s headquarters at Lancaster Park.
