Long Chch queue for U2 concert tickets
Eager concert-goers formed long queues outside the Town Hall booking office yesterday as tickets went on sale for the U2 concert planned for November 4 at Lancaster Park. Booking office staff arrived at work to find long queues already formed. Some of the U2 fans had been waiting for over two hours for tickets. The administration manager, Mr Max Joines, said that they had been selling tickets at the rate of 1000 an hour. "We don’t usually have so many people rushing in like this for tickets,” he said. "It appears that this could be Christchurch’s biggest concert yet.” Record shops reported selling out of tickets two hours after opening. Lancaster Park can hold at least 50,000 people.
