N.Z. set to woo Aust.

NZPA Sydney Australian investment in New Zealand looks set to receive a boost from a New Zealand business forum in Sydney which will feature many of the names associated with New Zealand’s economic transformation since 1984. The architect of the deregulation of New Zealand markets, former Minister of Finance and now Minister of Police and Immigration, Mr Douglas, will be a keynote speaker at the forum on September 18. Another will be David Richwhite, joint founder of the Fay Richwhite merchant bank with Michael Fay. Other speakers will include former state-

owned enterprises minister Richard Prebble, economist Len Bayliss and Kerrin Vautier of the Commerce Commission. Mr Douglas will outline New Zealand’s economic prospects in the 19905. Other topics include business law issues, avenues for new investment, taxation issues and opportunities offered by the sale of State assets. The organiser of the forum, Mr Graham Harford, a partner in law firm Rudd Watts and Stone, now on secondment to Sydney firm Minter Ellison, said the event coincided with increasing interest in New Zealand by Australian companies.
