Mrs Louise Moore’s name has appeared on the candidate lists of two of the political organisations fighting October’s Christchurch local body election. Mrs Moore is a Christchurch Action candidate in the Godley constituency of the Canterbury Regional Council.
She was to have been a United Citizens candidate on the Christchurch City Council but declared herself unavailable as that list of candidates was released.
She says she had approached United Citizens some time ago about standing for the City Council and the regional council. However, she changed her mind and did not formally accept the United Citizens candidacy. The United Citizens chairman, Mr Dennis Rich, said he understood Mrs Moore to have confirmed her availability and he was disappointed at her late withdrawal after the list was drawn up. Drainage Board member and former City councillor, said she opted for Christchurch Action because she liked its leader, Mrs Margaret Murray. “She’s dynamic and decisive,” she said. Mrs Moore is understood to have been upset at not being included in the United Citizens team for the regional council and at missing out on the Ferrymead ward in the City Council team. However, she said her decision was based on leadership.
