New party
Sir, — J. Canham is right. New Zealand needs the Christian Heritage Party. We have lost our way as a nation and need true moral leadership to point us back to our Christian heritage. We are heading down the same path as Sweden, which many like to hold up as a paragon of enlightenment and sophistication. In fact, Sweden is burdened with a massive 5228 external debt; on average, marriages last 12 years; 20,000 divorces compared with 37,000 marriages last year. Every year 100 children as young as 5 and 6 commit suicide and, while more than half the children born today are illegitimate, a more unfortunate 30,000 are aborted annually. The family structure has been destroyed and women are forced to work to support a huge welfare State that has spun out of control. The militant feminism and socialism that caused this in Sweden is, through both main parties in New Zealand, causing the same decline in standards in this country. — Yours, etc.,
G. H. MILNE. August 11, 1989.
