Robbery inquiry

Inquiries into the armed hold-up of a Bryndwr dairy 11 days ago are focusing on a nearby “crash pad” frequented by street kids. A rifle similar to the one believed to have been used by a gunman to rob the Clyde Road Dairy has been found buried among rubbish at the back of the Hollyford Avenue house. Several people living at the Housing Corporation address have been interviewed and inquiries are continuing, said Detective Sergeant John Lyall yesterday. The balaclava used by the robber was discarded in nearby Hooker Avenue. The prospect of an early arrest is not bright. “We are experiencing difficulties because of the number of transients who use the address,” said Detective Sergeant Lyall. About $2OO was taken in the robbery.
