Astle beats N.Z. rep. for table tennis title
The Canterbury junior table tennis representative, Lisa Astle, beat a New Zealand junior representative, Louise McFarlane (South Canterbury) to win the Canterbury open under-17 girls’ singles championship in Christchurch on Sunday. McFarlane had some compensation in winning the under-19 title, beating another Canterbury junior representative, Karen Hines, in the final. Hines eliminated Astle in the semi-final.
