Weeber to defend lead
The national junior rally champion, Stu Weeber of Christchurch, will defend his four point lead in this years national Group N championship at the fourth, and penultimate, round of the series at Taupo this Saturday. Weeber, who is also at the top of the points table in defence of his junior title, will be co-driven, as usual, by Mike Fletcher also of Christchurch. Weeber says that while he is not particularly familiar with the roads to be used in the 200 km event, he believes that the terrain will favour
GT4 of his nearest rival, Mark Jennings of Wellington and the Lancia Delta of Matamata’s Wayne Pittams. Reliability has proven a strong point for Weeber’s Subaru Omega in the series, and to ensure a continuation of this, Weeber’s crew has rebuilt the car since his third placing in class on the Rothmans International Rally. “Our plan will be to go for it right from the start and to keep an eye on Jennings,” says Weeber.
