Harbour award increase

PA Wellington Harbour workers and employers have reached interim agreement on their award, with harbour workers getting a flat-rate increase of $8 a week on the basic rates. The Harbour Workers’ Union secretary, Mr Ross Wilson, said further conciliation dates had been set for September. In the meantime, both parties would continue with port schedule negotiations. The interim agreement recognised that otherwise the award could not have been renewed before its expiry date of August 17, said Mr Wilson.

The union originally sought a 6 per cent increase in wages and allowances.
