Norman, Devoy win squash
PA Auckland The top seeds, Ross Norman and Susan Devoy, won the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the Panmure squash open yesterday. Norman beat Stephen Cunningham 9-6, 9-5, 9-2. In spite of some spectacular retrieving, Cunningham allowed uncharacteristic errors into his otherwise consistent game and gave the former world champion, Norman, the match on slightly easier terms than his present form suggests. Devoy defeated Joanne Williams 10-8, 9-2, 7-9, 90. Williams led 8-0 in the first set, but lost it 10-8. The British Open champion, Devoy, cruised through the second, but Williams won the third set 9-7, before being demolished 9-0 in the decider. Results:—
