Cantons win title
PA Palmerston North Nelson brother and sister Darren and Linda Canton won the dance skating event at the International Trophy Day rollerskating competition in Palmerston North on Saturday. The pair took a strong lead in the compulsory section, and never relinquished it during the final free dance. Richard Legge, of Auckland, won the men’s figure skating and free -skating
events, beating the national titleholder, Anthony Lobb, of Otago. Kylie Blackler, of Palmerston North, was placed second in the women’s free skating and figure skating. The figure skating title was won by Liza Stevens, of Auckland, and the free skating by Tracey Begg, of Otago. The free skating pairs title went to Andrew O’Neill and Tane Jubilee, both of Auckland.
