Daughter claim denied The office of the new Japanese Prime Minister, Toshiki Kaifu, has denied that he has an illegitimate daughter, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday. A newspaper the “Nagoya Times,” said on August 4 that Mr Kaifu had a child from a relationship with a model.—NZPA-Reuter. Bank to plead guilty The Panamanian subsidiary of Colombia’s Banco de Occidente will plead guilty to laundering drug money in the biggest such conviction obtained by the United States Government, the “New York Times” has reported. A lawyer for Banco de Occidente said that as part of the plea, to be made in Atlanta on Tuesday, all charges against the parent company in Colombia would be dropped.—NZPA-Reuter. M.P. stripped of seat A former Papua New Guinea Cabinet Minister has been stripped of his seat by the Court of Disputed Returns two years after he took his place in Parliament. The National Court has declared void the election of James Pokasui in July, 1987, upholding a petition alleging that Pokasui had bribed and unduly influenced voters.—NZPA-AAP. Spy satelite in orbit United States military officials have confirmed the successful deployment of a powerful spy satellite from the space shuttle Columbia.—NZPA-Reuter. Aust, actor dies An Australia actor, John Meillon, has died at the age of 55, his agent, Bill Shanahan, said yesterday. Meillon’s latest films included the blockbusters “Crocodile Dundee” and its sequel. —NZPA-AAP.
