N.Z. bowlers improve
PA ' Wellington The Young New Zealand bowls team yesterday turned on an improved performance to hold Queensland to a 2-2 result in Queensland. New Zealand was beaten comprehensively, 4-0, on Thursday but yesterday Taranaki’s Brian Baldwin in the singles and the triples team of Paul Wilton, Baldwin and Peter Shaw ensured New Zealand had a fair share of the spoils. Results:— Singles: Brian Baldwin (Taranaki) beat Steve Anderson, -25-20. Fours: Paul Wilson (Hawke’s Bay), Jeff Hawkin (Taranaki), Graham Stanley (Canterbury), Peter Shaw (Manawatu), lost to D. Peoples, D. Hayes, C. Pritchard, G. Cook), 16-19. Triples; (Paul Wilton, B. Baldwin, P. Shaw) beat (D. Peoples, C. Pritchard, S. Anderson), 18-8. Pairs: (J. Hawkins, Graham Stanley) lost to C. Hayes, G Cook), 13-18.
