Runners from Darwin

Three Darwin runners are among the 513 who will run in the annual Governor’s Bay to Lyttelton 10km race today. The three won a trip to Christchurch for the handicap race by winning their respective sections of the Darwin city to surf fun run. Stephen Blake, with a best 10km time this year of 32min 545, will have a handicap of 13 minutes behind the front marker. The backmarkers

are Rob Howell (St Martins) and Don Greig (New Brighton), off 16 min. One minute ahead of them are 16 runners. Margaret Walker (Christchurch) is the women’s backmarker, off 16 min, and giving one minute to Anna Warren (Sumner) and Christine Todd (University). Eddie Gray (Greymouth) and Georgina Talbot (Old Boys United) are the veteran backmarkers.
