ORIENTEERING Thirty-eight keen orienteers tried out their skills in the dark at Victoria Park last Saturday night. Three courses were set by Marcus King, who has organised the last three night events. The success was helped by the mild weather, a good turn-out from Canterbury University, and Victoria Park being a good challenging location. The courses, although a bit shorter than normal (between l-3km), still tested the competitors’ navigation skills over the variable terrain. Because of the success of the event there has been talk of King organising another event in the near future. Course 1 (difficult): Brian Aitken, 37min 16s, 1; Trevor Hoey, 38:06, 2; Greg Waite, 40:04, 3. Course 2 (medium): A. Mitchel and F. Mcßae, 39:17, 1; Greg McKenzie, 39:33, 2; Johnston, 40:30, 3.
