MR COOL CHARM.

There was an excited flutter amongst the young girls at the check-outs as he left the manager’s office after his interview. It was quite obvious he had been successful, as he waved to the girls and sauntered confidently on his way. This week’s special he certainly was, when he arrived for work, 10 minutes after everyone else, the next day. He stood surveying the workers, soaking in the admiring wide-eyed glances directed his way. His pale blue shirt had pleats and pockets in the latest designer fashion, matching blue socks were set off by spotless grey suede shoes, and fitting grey trousers outlined his slim hips to perfection. The dark curly hair appeared as if he had just vacated the hairdresser’s salon, and the neatly-trimmed moustache curled over sneering lips and even white teeth..

The sharp voice of the boss was an annoying interruption, and soon he was donned in a newly-issued dust coat, trimming cabbages with such style and. charm, that one almost felt envious of the cabbage being handled by such deft hands.

His self-assured stance suddenly crumpled as the knife missed the cabbage and nicked his finger. There was a loud clatter as the knife hit the floor, and an even louder moan, as the trim trimmer slithered slowly to the floor in a faint

Even when the trusty “Band-Aid” had stemmed the trickle of blood, it was some time before he was sufficiently recovered to resume work.

The sniggering giggles were very audible to his reddenecj ears as he built his cabbage display into a work of art
