Last year’s Wellington Steeplechase winner, High Impact, is a surprise nomination for the Koral Steeplechase at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Riccarton on Saturday and the Grand National Steeplechase the following week. High Impact had to miss the recent Wellington meeting because of ligament strain leading up to the carnival.
Crown Star which will be attempting to win his third Grand National on Saturday week is nominated as is his stablemate, Trelay Boy, which may be set for the Grand National Hurdles tomorrow week as well.
Last year’s winner, Lord Venture, the Wellington Steeplechase winner, Braeman, and the runner-up Justa Kiss, are also nominated for the
Koral. The former Swettenham Sires’ Stakes winner and New Zealand Derby winner, Satisfy, was a late entry when second acceptances were taken for the Winter Cup on the last day of the C.J.C. meeting on Saturday, August 12. St Repert, Dad’s Gift, Jullene and Mister Spock are among other late entries for the event.
