Beau Zam, Almaarad equal in Cup weights

NZPA-AAP Sydney Beau Zam, Australia’s champion racehorse of last season, has been given equal top weight of 59kg in both the sAustl.Bs million Melbourne Cup and the sAustl million Caulfield Cup. The Bart Cummingstrained entire shares the honour with the imported galloper, Almaarad, which is being prepared for the Cups by Colin Hayes. The veteran Melbourne doubles bookmaker, Syd Lyons, has Research at 71 for the Melbourne Cup. Lyons has the Lee Freedman-trained Super Impose a 9-1 favourite for the Caulfield Cup. Super Impose is weighted on 56kg in both Cups.

Vo Rogue, which defeated Super Impose in the Australian Cup over 2000 m at Flemington during the autumn, is the third highest weighted horse in the Caulfield Cup with 58.5 kg. Vo Rogue was not nominated for the Melbourne Cup.
