Pop music’s memory lane

“CV” steps back in time on Sunday (10.15 p.m. on Two) to check out the rock ’n’ roll and pop-music scene in Wellington during the 19605. “When Rock Got Rolling” — a fond look back to those halcyon days — has been written by an ardent sixties-music fan, Roger Watkins. He describes it as “the result of my curiosity, a flick through scrapbooks,

photos, records, a meander down memory lane back to the days when rock got rolling.” . “CV” located various members of bands who worked the scene in Wellington: Lou Parun (The Librettos); Neil Harrap (The Premiers); Eddie McDonald, Clive Cockburn and Dave Brown (The Avengers); Tony Eagleton (Ton and The Initials); Peter Hall

(The Bitter End); Rick White (Tom Thumb); Wayne Mason (The Fourmyula); Rochelle Vinsen; Alan Galbraith (Sounds Unlimited). “CV” took these artists back to the venues they used to play in — or to where these venues used to be before the massive rebuilding of central Wellington — and asked them to recount their experiences of the time.
