TABLE TENNIS

Daliington had an upset 6-5 win over second-placed Linwood in the twelfth round of the Canterbury Table Tennis Assocition’s winter premier grade inter-club competition. The key to Dallington’s success was its winning both the doubles matches. In the match of the night, Michael Hamel (Daliington) went down to Henry Redmond, 20-22, in the third game. Redmond had to struggle to beat Denis Kalin,

who is returning to form after an illness. The competition leader, Avonside 1, beat third-placed Avonside 2, 6-5. Again doubles played a big part in the top team’s victory.
