Dwelling permits up

The number of building permits for new dwellings issued in May was 2150, 39.8 per cent higher than in May last'year, the Statistics Department said yesterday. The value of the building work involved jumped 37.5 per cent- to $179.7 million. But the department said the number of permits issued for non-residential buildings was down to 481 from 507 in May last year. The value of work involved slipped to $78.8 million from $122 million.—PA.
