Stud sold

Auckland correspondent The Cambridge-based Amberlane Stud has been sold, but it will not officially change hands until next February. The 40 hectare property has been purchased by a Blenheim couple, Robert and Heather Page, who stand Golden Elder at their Chatham Downs Stud. The Pages recently bought the sire Princes Gate at the Trelawney Stud dispersal sale and the stallion will be based at Amberlane Stud this year. Charles Boyle, who established Amberlane Stud in 1980, will stand Princes Gate for the Pages and also his own sire, Oak Ridge. "I’ve sold the stud as I need more room to expand my operations,” said Boyle. Princes Gate’s best performer is Ascot Lane (Sandown Guineas), while Oak Ridge has had success recently with Gamblin’ Winnie. Oak Ridge’s other winners include Heart Of Oak, Fleetwood (a candidate at Te Rapa on Saturday), Offshore Comet, White Oak and Forest Nymph.
