35 die in jet crash

NZPA-Reuter Nicosia At least 35 people were killed when a South Korean DC-10 airliner carrying 200 passengers and crew crashed yesterday at Libya’s Tripoli airport, a spokesman at the South Korean Embassy in Tripoli said. He said up to 100 people had survived as the big jet on a flight from Seoul ploughed through two houses and hit several cars on a road beside the airport at 7.30 a.m. (5.30 p.m. N.Z. time) as it attempted to land. A number of the survivors were in serious condition in hospitals, he said. Most of the passengers were Koreans.
