Our High Noon deserves another chance after failure

Wellington correspondent Our High Noon, a three-year-old from Woodville, was an expensive failure at Waipa last week, but he could atone when he contests the $7OOO Glen Oroua Transport handicap (1360 m at the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s meeting at Wanganui tomorrow. Although Our High Noon was only fifth in the $17,500 Hodgson Motor Classic (1600 m before that his form had been excellent with wins at Awapuni and Trentham and a second at Hastings tossed in as well. With 55.5 kilograms, Our High Noon has his share of weight, but that does enable Noel Harris to accept the ride. Trained at Woodville by the Herberts, Our High Noon is joined in the race by his stablemate, Diamantino, already a winner twice at Wanganui. His most recent success there was at the Hunt meeting earlier in the month and he is expected to run a big race again. In one outing since Wanganui he was fifth in class one company on Trenthaih’s first

day. The pace in the field is expected to be helped along by Navajo Brave and Purple Glory, which was close up in that Hunt club sprint. Purple Glory has returned some useful performances in this campaign, while Navajo Brave will be having his first outing since winning at the Masterton meeting. Form in the main staying event, the $lO,OOO Plant Plasma Handicap looks widespread. Bond Street, who looked so useful some months back, was second over 200 metres at Hastings, also a month ago, while Apollo King is seeking to improve on a moderate seventh at Levin during the week. Bronze Valley, Kimberley Road, Carter Star and Fool’s Fortune all have the ability to run well. The main jumping event is the $6OOO Plant Plasma Hunt Cup 3900 m and Ark’s Regent, after a second here at the previous Hunt meeting and then a win in the Mariri Steeple, looks well placed to continue his run of form.
