Consultant joins TVNZ on contract
PA Wellington Television New Zealand has appointed Mr Ron Haines as its consultant head of programming. He will join the company on August 7, on a contract which will cover the first few months of competition in New Zealand television.
Mr Haines was recognised throughout the television industry as one of the world’s most experienced and respected programme schedulers, TVNZ’s chief executive Julian Mounter said in a statement. He has headed both the Nine Network and Channel Ten programming operations during his thirty-three years in the industry. Currently in charge of the Nine Network’s London operations, he developed programming strategies which took the Nine Network to the top and kept it in that dominant position in the fiercely competitive Australian market, Mr Mounter said. Mr Haines expects to return to his executive role with the Nine Network at the end of his contract with TVNZ.
