House ransacked Property valued at nearly $4OOO was stolen in a burglary of an England Street, Linwood, house on Tuesday after the offender found the back door key in a stolen car. The house occupant’s car was stolen between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. from Linwood City Mall carpark, the police said. The offender found a back door key and something which gave the owner’s address. The owner of the car arrived at his home between 4.30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to find it ransacked. Forged prescription An attempt was made to use a forged prescription at Drummonds Pharmacy in Colombo Street about 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday. Detective Senior-Sergeant Colin Dalzell said the prescription form was one of several stolen in a recent burglary of a Kaiapoi doctor’s surgery. Two men appeared in court yesterday charged with false pretence over the attempt to use the prescription. Witnesses sought The Ministry of Transport is appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured yesterday afternoon. The man, aged 62, was struck by a car as he was crossing Ferry Road, near Richardson Terrace, about 4.30 p.m. Sergeant Wayne Templeton said he had spoken to some witnesses to the accident, but asked that any others come forward. The man suffered serious head, leg, and arm injuries and was in Christchurch Hospital’s intensive care unit last evening. His name was not available.
