W’wths rival buy
Woolworths, Ltd, operator of the Liquor Plus store chain, has announced it has agreed to acquire the rival MAC’S drinks business in New South Wales. The retail giant, a subsidiary of Industrial Equity, has just completed month-long negotiations with the Auckland-based owners of MAC’S Lion Nathan, and expects to take control of the retail liquor venture on September 1. No purchase price was disclosed. Seminar cancelled A seminar to have been held in Christchurch tomorrow for small and startup companies in electronics and computing has been cancelled because of lack of support. The seminar was one of two (the other is in Auckland) organised by the Information Technology Association of New Zealand.
