Wide range of possibilities

Pazzato, at 4 Leslie Hills Drive, sells hard flooring products. With direct access — it is next to and under the same roof as Floor Pride — it sells a complementary range of flooring materials.

Some of the products are relatively new to New Zealand. Amtico luxury vinyls open up a range of possibilities wherever they are used — in showrooms, hairdressing salons, hotels, restaurants and private homes. It is a very tough vinyl and even stiletto heels do not mark it. Imitation woodgrain looks like the real thing but will not mark, says Mr Richard Nightingale, who started Pazzato three months ago. Pazzato is the southern commercial agent for Amtico.

Design flexibility is one of its most notable features. Any kind of pattern is possible, so Amtico is particularly suitable for depicting corporate

logos. Harrods of London has Amtico vinyl on its floors.

Pazzato sells a wide range of ceramic tiles, from the cheap to the top end of the market. There are tiles for indoors and outdoors, for floors and walls, imported from countries including Italy, Malaysia and Japan. Pazzato is an agent for Brickmakers’ PGH quarry tiles. Most are unglazed, but glazed types are available too.

A new product at Pazzato comes from a new factory in Dunedin. The Fairfield Brick and Tile Company makes a range of bricks, both wire cut and smooth. The bricks are in two sizes, the 70mm wide series and the 105 mm (the old four inch) in a new range of colours. For a touch of class to enhance your garden, you can choose from Oamaru stone pots, bird baths and sundials, made by Dooleys

in Oamaru

Dooleys also manufacture Durastone tiles, which are imitation slate. The moulding process used to manufacture the tiles reproduces the exact texture of natural slate. It is suitable for indoors and outdoors, for kitchens, feature walls, fireplaces, heater surrounds, hearths, entrance ways, floors, pools, patios, courtyards, walkways, steps, barbecue areas, paths, verandahs and claddings. Durastone tiles are available in burnt organge, regan red, desert sand, black opal, terracotta, homestead brown, sage green and charcoal.

Pazzato sells parquet flooring, mostly made in Australian hardwoods.

Although Pazzato does not employ subcontractors to lay flooring, it can arrange it, Richard Nightingale says. For the home handyperson, it can give all the advice needed for a professional job.
