Blinkers come off Mr Tee
NZPA-AAP Brisbane
The former New Zealand horse, Mister Tee, will undergo an important gear change in a bid to rectify his inconsistent form in the Tattersalls Mile (1600 m at Eagle Farm today.
Leading trainer Bruce McLachlan has decided to remove blinkers from the five-year-old following his failures in the Tattersalls
and Ipswich cups recently. . “There’s no problem with him. He’s raced in blinkers in each of his three starts for me and I’m hoping he’ll race more kindly . without them,” McLachlan said.
Mister Tee made a huge impression on the Brisbane public when he downed Spacecraft and Young Carbinier over
1600 m at Eagle Farm in his local debut on June
But since then, Mister Tee could manage only eighth to Jondolar in the Tatts Cup (2236 m after getting well back in the field and fourth to Dixie Kid in the Ipswich Cup (2100 m after racing prominently. McLachlan is confident Mister Tee (4-1), which drops back in distance in
the Tatts Mile, can topple 2-1 favourite Young Carbinier.
“We meet him three kilos better for beating him over 1600 m at Eagle Farm on June 12,” McLachlan said.
The race is expected to be run with several frontrunners in the field, including Mister Tee’s stablemate Insatiate, a new ride for apprentice David Wilkes.
